Creating models in Model Editor
SGP Model Editor
SGP Model Editor is a tool for creating and editing 3D models used in the SGP Baltie 4 C# environment.
The models, which may appear in Baltie's scenes and that Baltie conjures up, can be either simple models or groups of models.
Simple models
Simple models are stored into files with the .sgpm extension. These files contain the information about the shape of model and substances the model consists of.
SGP Model Editor allows you to change just the size the color and the opacity of the complete simple models. On the contrary, SGP Model Editor has not allowed you to create simple models yet and it is necessary to create them by some editor of 3D models.

Groups
SGP Model Editor allows you to create groups of models (briefly groups), which can be treated in the same way as simple models, in other words, Baltie can conjure them up a they can be added to the groups.
To simplify the whole idea you can imagine groups of models like the LEGO®. A single cube has its shape, substance, color and size. It represents a simple model. You can change its colors, size and opacity of substances.
If you use cubes to build up a little house with a garden, a group will arise. We cannot talk only about the substance or color of the group, because generally, cubes, which the house and the garden are formed of, have different colors and consist of different substances with different opacity. With groups we can just talk about a position and a size of their particular parts.
The information about the construction of a group, that is the information about a position and a size of its particular parts, is stored into the files with the .sgpg extension.

Maintaining groups
As we have mentioned earlier, to some point you can work with groups as if they are models. You can, for example, create a group of houses with gardens that represents a small village.
Similarly you can use the SGP Model Editor to create a group representing a workplace with a desk, a chair, and a computer. After then you can create another group representing a classroom to which you will put a few earlier created workplaces.

Groups editing
You can move, rotate, and change the size of particular models in a group model. You cannot, however, edit models themselves. You can just remove them from the group and replace them with other ones.
Another possibility is to change a basic form of the nested model. However this change also affects the form of model in the other groups where the model appears. If the model change its appearance (e.g. the color of substance or its opacity), it will as well change in all groups it was added to.

User interface
Even though Baltie, when conjuring, doesn't separate these two models, their creating a editing is quite different. By virtue of differences between both kinds of models, the editor uses different program's controls when working with each kind of the model. Therefore a different tab is determined for editing each kind of the model.
There are two tabs in the application window of the editor:
  • Tab Model is intended to edit simple models and allows you to change their color, size and opacity of substances.

  • Tab Group is intended for creating and editing groups. It allows you to set and change a position and a relative size of particular models that the group consists of.
